Why does my employer have an EAP?
Your employer understands that it can be difficult to balance your personal life with your work life. With increasing pressures and changing influences of society, very few of us get through our adult life without some personal stress. There is concern about the welfare of employees because each is viewed as a valuable asset. We partner with your company to provide integrated solutions to complex problems.
Is it confidential?
Yes. By federal law, each person's privacy must be protected. No personal or treatment information will be released to the employee's supervisor or other individuals unless the employee requests such feedback be provided, we learn of intentions to harm oneself or others, or we learn of abuse to children or the elderly.

What is the cost of this program?
This program is free to employees. How? Your employer pays for this service for your benefit. They value you as an employee and look for ways help you achieve you full potential.
All Visits to UTEAP professionals are free for employees and their eligible household members. If a referral is made to an outside resource (not affiliated with us) and the client chooses to follow through, he or she is responsible for those costs. If needed, our therapists will match the employee with a referral that is on their insurance plan. They know of many low cost resources and make every effort to find helpful referrals at the most affordable cost.
Which location do I go to for an appointment?
In addition to our main location for office visits (7000 Fannin #1670, Houston, Texas) in the Medical Center, employees have a choice of other locations in their own local area. You can request a location by your work, child's school or by your residence. We also offer nationwide coverage. Call our main office at 1-800-346-3549 for a location near you.

Is there a basic cost for EAP services?
Services are priced depending on each company's individual needs provided by feasibility studies. This customized analysis allows clients to pay only for the services that are unique for their particular environment. Our employees feel EAPs are only for those that have serious "mental problems." How do you overcome this so they will feel comfortable to utilize the service?
We dispel such concerns through our program promotions, seminars and orientations. We point out that there are many resources available to employees besides the mental health counseling segment. Additionally, there are other areas within counseling that we can help with such as co-worker conflicts, conflicts with supervisors, stress reduction, and working within a team. Why do our supervisors need to consult with or get advice from the EAP? Can’t our HR department handle any problems or issues that arise?
Perhaps, yet employee assistance professionals are extremely well qualified to teach and consult with regarding employee supervision. Employee assistance professionals routinely consult with managers regarding supervisory skills.
Moreover, our professionals have vast experience in dealing with troubled employees and consulting with them on difficult employee behavior. This tremendous knowledge base aids in providing effective solutions. UTEAP functions as a management tool to salvage employees and increase overall productivity.
We may be expanding and opening offices nationwide. Will UTEAP be able to cover those employees as well?
Absolutely! We have affiliations with counselors all over the US. Just let us know where your offices will be located and we will make sure we have counselors available for those locations.
