University of Texas/Zogby International to announce results of exclusive survey on healthcare reform
at National Press Club on July 15

 

WHAT:

What do Americans think about their health care? And the legislation being discussed in Washington? The results of the largest survey on American attitudes on healthcare reform so far this year will be made public this week. Answering scores of questions, the nearly 4,000 participants shared their thoughts on the future of health care and the legislative options.

WHEN:

Wednesday, July 15, 3 p.m. EST

The news conference will be streamed live at visualwebcaster.com/healthreform.

WHERE:

National Press Club, 529 14th Street N.W., Washington, D.C.
Murrow Room, 13th floor

WHY:

The survey was created to provide the clearest and most current understanding of how Americans as a whole feel about healthcare reform.

WHO:

The announcement will be made by survey creator, S. Ward Casscells III, M.D., John Edward Tyson Distinguished Professor in Cardiology and vice president of external affairs and public policy at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health, and John Zogby, president and CEO of Zogby International.

A distinguished panel of media experts will also be on hand to discuss survey results and answer questions:

  • Harvard University healthcare economist, David Cutler, Ph.D.
  • Gail Wilensky, Ph.D., former head of CMS (Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Denis Cortese, M.D., CEO of the Mayo Clinic
  • Harvey Fineburg, M.D., Ph.D., President and Chair of the Institute of Medicine

Leaders from the American Medical Association, America's Health Insurance Plans, and other trade associations will also attend, as will Larry R. Kaiser, M.D., president of the UT Health Science Center at Houston.
