Ceremony Marks Beginning
of Medical Students’ Journey to Becoming Physicians
| WHAT: | The White Coat Ceremony for The University of Texas Medical School at Houston’s Class of 2012. |
| WHO: | More than 200 students will sign an ethical pledge, take the “Oath of Hippocrates,” and venture on a lifelong path - the journey to becoming a doctor. Students will don white coats and mark a key milestone in their training, an emotional moment surrounded by proud friends and family. Pedro Mancias, M.D., the 2008 recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, will be the keynote speaker. |
| WHEN: | 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. |
| WHERE: | Edwin Hornberger Conference Center, 2151 W. Holcombe Blvd. |
| WHY: | “What you are about to undertake – this life in medicine - is not for the faint of heart,” Judianne Kellaway, M.D., assistant dean of admissions, advises incoming students. “Once embraced, it is not something that you can cast aside when your life brings you other ventures. It is now as much a part of you as your very core. At times it will take all of your strength, but the soul and heart that brought you to medicine will also sustain you in medicine.” |
Please join us as we welcome the UT Medical School’s Class of 2012.
