Nuevo León Gov. Jose Natividad Gonzalez Parás to visit UT Health Science Center at Houston

Nuevo León Gov. Jose Natividad Gonzalez Parás will visit The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSC-Houston) to ratify a training agreement between the health science center and the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León Facultad de Medicina y Hospital Universitario (UANL) in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

WHO:

Jose Natividad Gonzalez Parás - Governor of the state of Nuevo León in northeastern Mexico. Monterrey is the capital.

C. Thomas Caskey, M.D. - Director/CEO of the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases at UTHSC-Houston

Luis E. Todd - Executive director of the Science and Technology Center for the state of Nuevo León

WHY:

Postdoctoral students from UANL will begin a training program in drug development research at The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases this spring. In addition to the training program, the universities plan to carry out joint research, host visits by faculty and students of partner institutions and organize symposia, conferences, short courses and meetings on research issues. Two of the three positions slotted for the spring semester have been filled and the students will train with UT scientists for three years.
