Priority Care clinic offers adults same-day appointments
HOUSTON – (Oct. 8, 2007)–UT Physicians is offering same-day appointments to adult patients at its new Priority Care clinic in Suite 600 of The University of Texas Professional Building, 6410 Fannin.
Nurse practitioners staff the Priority Care clinic, which accommodates walk-in patients who are unable to make same-day appointments with their doctor.
“Convenience and access to top quality medical care are of primary concern to our current patients and are critical in order to attract new patients,” said Andrew Casas, UT Physicians chief operating officer. “Priority Care represents one of many strategic steps that UT Physicians is undertaking to improve patient access to medical care.”
Priority Care nurse practitioners, who are affiliated with The University of Texas School of Nursing at Houston, treat routine medical issues – such as upper respiratory infections, rashes, ear aches, abdominal pain, chest pain and back pain. They also treat minor injuries and assists with medication management and prescription refills. Nurse practitioners may prescribe medication.
“Priority Care reaches out to UT Physicians’ patients and UT Health Science Center and Texas Medical Center employees who need same-day access to medical care when their regular physician may not be available or whose available work-in appointments are inconvenient” said Diana Browning, UT Physicians vice president of clinical operations. “Priority Care reduces the time employees may need to take away from work and eliminates the need to wait for an appointment.”
After a visit, Priority Care clinicians follow up with the patient’s physician and may recommend further care with a UT Physicians specialist.
To schedule an appointment at the Priority Care clinic, call 832-325-7164. For a walk-in appointment, visit the clinic 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
