UT Emergency Physician Joins Star
of Hope Board

Arlo Weltge, M.D.
Arlo Weltge, M.D., associate professor at the Medical School department of Emergency Medicine, has joined the Board of Trustees of the Star of Hope. “We are proud to have the doctor with us. His excellent reputation precedes him and we look forward to utilizing his wisdom and experience as Star of Hope begins its second hundred years,” said Jim Hunt, board president.
Dr. Weltge grew up as the son of a third generation pastor in the United Church of Christ and attended First Congregational Church in Houston. Since joining First Presbyterian Church of Houston, he has been actively teaching in the children’s and youth ministry and has accompanied the youth program on mission trips to Mexico, Jamaica and Belize. He is married to Janet Macheledt-Weltge, M.D. They have three children — Fred, Eleanor and Paul.
He also is Medical Director for the Houston Community College Program in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and a past president of the Texas College of Emergency Physicians. He is also active in the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Harris County Medical Society and the American Heart Association.
