Community Service
The university offers patient care in clinics, mobile units and within schools across Houston and surrounding areas as well as communities along the Texas-Mexico border. Health education is provided to children and adults in the Houston area and continuing education is provided across the state to health professionals.

- Harris County Psychiatric Center provided $22.7 million in charity care to the Houston area
- Medical School provided $139 million in unsponsored care
- Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences has a 12-year relationship with HISD's Brookline Elementary School
- School of Health Information Sciences partnered with Center for Health Outcomes Research and Development in Japan
- School of Nursing provided service in several affiliated clinics and HISD schools
- School of Public Health has several outreach programs in Houston, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso and San Antonio
