Four Web page tiers, defined below, allow us to better
coordinate the various standards for Web sites. The closer the public
Web page and tier is to the UTHSC-H home page, the stronger the required
level of compliance to Federal and State guidelines and to University
Web standards. A compliance checklist table
summarizing the applicable standard for each tier is available on the
web.
Tier 1: UTHSC-H Home Pages and Resources
Pages
The first tier consists of the UTHSC-H home page (www.uth.tmc.edu/)
and resources pages for specific audience groups, as well as the overall
information pages regarding the university. The home page’s primary
objective is to provide an attractive, distinctive, clear and easily
navigable point-of-entry to the wealth of information on UTHSC-H’s
Internet servers, and to set a tone and style for other university pages.
Development and maintenance of these pages are the responsibility of
the Co-Directors of Web Development with input and oversight from the
Web Council and the Vice President for Public Affairs.
Examples:
Official UTHSC-H home page –
uth.tmc.edu
Prospective
Students page

Tier 2: School/Operating Unit Pages and Key Entry
Points
Pages located within Tier 2 are the schools’ and other major operating
units’ home pages and key entry points for outside constituents.
These pages are maintained by individual Web Publishers designated by
the different units. Key entry points are: Human Resources, Registrar,
Job Postings, etc.
Examples:
Dental Branch home page
HCPC home page
Registrar
Tier 3: Department/Division and Centers
Pages
The departments/divisions and centers throughout the university maintain
Web pages with vital university information. These pages are maintained
by Web publishers designated by a division head or department chair.
Often these pages highlight faculty members, student accomplishments
or administrative services for the university.
Examples:
Medical School’s Neurobiology
and Anatomy Department site
Executive Affairs
Office of Financial Services page
Center for Occupational
and Environmental Health site
Tier 4: Committees/ Research/ or
Employee Pages
Many individuals across the university often create Web pages to highlight
or inform the university community and outside constituents about relevant
events and offerings in their areas. These pages must be in support
of the mission of the university and/or the school. A committee member
or staff member from individual departments or divisions within the
university typically maintains tier 4 pages.
Examples are:
Committee on the Status of
Women Web site
Dr. Eric
Boerwinkle’s Human Genetics Center faculty page
School
of Health Information Sciences’ faculty publication page
