Web Sites Receive Awards

Several Web sites of the Office of Institutional Advancement have received awards in the annual international Web Marketing Association competition.

The Leader Update, the online weekly internal publication for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, was noted both for “News Standard of Excellence” and “Newspaper Standard of Excellence.” The publication is in good company – other publications receiving the same award levels included the Wall Street Journal online at WSJ.com and CNN. com News Site.

The Leader Update is edited by Pamela Lewis. Web developers involved with production include Jennifer Canup, Sophia Solis and Linda Ha.

HealthLeader, the online consumer health publication edited by Karen Krakower, received an “E-zine Standard of Excellence” award. Sophia Solis is Web designer for the electronic magazine.

The American Heart Walk Web site created by Web Developer Sophia Solis for the UT Health Science Center at Houston’s participation in the event received a “Non-profit Standard of Excellence” award. Also receiving awards at that level were sites designed for the World Wildlife Fund USA, UNICEF: Kids Help Kids! and Goodwill Industries.

According to the Web Marketing Association, the awards “recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective and best Web sites on the Internet today.”
