During Novrmber 2006, 182 media placements about The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston reached a potential audience of more than 20 million people. The following is a sample of those media placements.

Dr. Tracey Godwin and the UT dental van are bringing much-needed care to rural residents, Lufkin-Nacogdoches KTRE-TV 6 and 10 p.m. news, Nov. 2.

Drs. Heinrich Taegtmeyer and Erik Wilson find that a “fatty heart” is reversible with weight loss – but surgery can only make people less obese, not repair the heart, KHOU-TV’s “11 News at Five,” Nov. 2, and “11 News At Noon,” Nov. 3.

In two reports, first-year medical students talk about the hit ABC show “Grey’s Anatomy” not comparing to the real thing in Dr. Len Cleary’s gross anatomy class, KTRK-TV’s “Eyewitness News at 6 PM” and “Eyewitness News Tonight,” Nov. 16.

Bionutritionist Carol Wolin-Riklin discusses avoiding traditional Thanksgiving weight gain and eating healthier holiday fare, KTRK-TV’s “Live at Five,” Nov. 22.

Dr. James H. Steele is profiled as the 93-year-old zoonosis expert and UT School of Public Health professor is honored for his important research career, “Faces in the Crowd” feature, Memorial-area edition, Houston Chronicle’s “This Week,” Nov. 23.

Drs. Aaron Mohanty and Luís Ostrosky talk about a rare infection from contaminated pork that leads to tapeworms dwelling in the brain, KHOU-TV’s “11 News at Five,” Nov. 27, and “11 News At Noon,” Nov. 28.
