Adkins Named Executive Director of Foundation
Cynthia J. Adkins
Cynthia J. Adkins has been named executive director of TIRR Foundation. Established in 1987 as an independent 501c(3) organization, TIRR Foundation raises funds to support the needs of TIRR (The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research) and TIRR Rehabilitation Centers.
TIRR Foundation also leads Mission Connect, a collaborative research effort that unites TIRR, Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, the UT Medical Branch at “This new agreement is an investment in the future of research dedicated specifically to rehabilitation.” Galveston and the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center. Mission Connect focuses on basic clinical research with a goal to reverse the consequences of spinal cord injury, brain injury and neurological disorders.
Adkins has extensive experience in fundraising and development, and she is an active community leader. For the past year she has served as executive director of TIRR Foundation on an interim basis.
She is on the board of directors of Whitney Bank and the development committee at UT Austin. She is past president of the River Oaks Country Club and a member of the Junior League of Houston.
