Senate Passes Proclamation

The Texas State Senate passed a proclamation on the last day of the special session commending The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston President James T. Willerson, M.D., for outstanding achievements in science and medicine.

State Senator Rodney Ellis introduced the proclamation in recognition of Willerson’s “extraordinary contributions to the field of cardiovascular research” and several recent honors. Willerson was named an international honorary member of the Japanese Circulation Society and received the 2006 Canadian Libin/Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Prize.

In expressing appreciation, Willerson said that although the proclamation mentioned his work specifically, it also honors all those at the UT Health Science Center who work every day to contribute to the advancement of scientific and medical knowledge.
