Congratulations, Walkers!

University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston President James T. Willerson, M.D., congratulates Angela Meshack, Dr.P.H., for being the health science center’s top fund-raiser for the Heart Walk for two years in a row. Meshack is a faculty associate in the Centers for Health Promotion and Prevention Research at the UT School of Public Health. A five-year veteran of the Heart Walk, Meshack is also a member of the American Heart Association African American Outreach Task Force. The health science center team had 300 walkers at the Nov. 5 event and raised more than $24,000. The Stroke Team provided carotid artery ultrasounds, and the dental van was there for screenings. The university sponsored the White Cap Stroke Survivors Tent, honoring stroke survivors and serving as an educational gathering place for stroke survivors, family and friends. Photo by Nancy Hudgins
