Willerson also met with House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Senator John Cornyn, Congressmen Michael Burgess and Gene Green, and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy John “Jack” Marburger, Ph.D. Willerson discussed stem cell research, air toxics, the Alliance for NanoHealth, TexSHIELD and T5. The Alliance for NanoHealth, a collaboration among six institutions, has funding from five different federal agencies to conduct interdisciplinary research on various aspects of nanotechnology, the science of building materials and devices at the molecular level. T5, or Texas Training and Technology for Trauma and Terrorism, is a collaborative effort among the UT Health Science Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute.
