New Leadership Award to Honor Jimenez
<
Michael Jimenez
A new award will recognize outstanding employees at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston while paying tribute to the late Mike Jimenez, former vice president and chief human resources officer, who died in June.
“The Michael J. Jimenez Leadership in Action Award will recognize one outstanding employee each year for demonstrating the traits that were so admired in Mike,” explained James T. Willerson, M.D., president.
Such traits include: excellent two-way communication skills, a commitment to enhanced collaboration and productive relationships with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization, energy and enthusiasm for the work of the university, appreciation for the contributions of others, a commitment to the professional development of others, a consistently positive attitude, and a commitment to doing the right thing. The annual award will carry a $5,000 cash prize.
Faculty and staff members will have the opportunity to nominate individuals for consideration by a selection committee to be appointed by Willerson. The first award will be presented Feb. 8 at the STAR Awards luncheon, an annual event recognizing several hundred faculty and staff as they mark their milestone service anniversaries. Information about the nomination process will be announced via campus communications.
