Nursing Research Group
A new Texas Medical Center Nurse Researcher Consortium will bring nurse researchers together from throughout the TMC.
“Being in the largest medical center in the world, we have phenomenal opportunities to collaborate on research and phenomenal access to patients,” said Joanne Hickey, Ph.D., professor of acute and continuing care at The University of Texas School of Nursing at Houston, who co-chairs the consortium with Pam Willson, Ph.D., associate chief of nursing research at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
“We should have a major presence as leaders in nursing research in the United States,” Hickey said. “We have access to patients with every possible health problem and experts within walking distance of each other. We need to create the infrastructure for nursing research and also for our nursing students to learn about research.”
The group has met once and has enlisted support from Kathryn Stream, Ph.D., senior vice president of the TMC.
The next meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Jesse Jones Library Building Room 406.For more information contact Suzanne Warren at swarren@texmedctr.tmc.edu or (713) 791-6135.
