Public Affairs Wins Awards

 

The celebration and communication around the opening of the new School of Nursing and Student Community Center garnered a Grand Award/Gold for the Office of Public Affairs in a multi-state awards competition sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District IV.

The Grand Award in the Institutional Relations Projects and Special Events category recognized creative collaboration among all areas of the Office of Public Affairs - special events, graphic design, Web, media relations and publications.

Other awards recognizing Public Affairs work include:

  • Award of Excellence/Silver for “Houston’s Stroke Team Finds Promise in New Stroke Treatment,” a news story written and submitted by Shannon Rasp in the Medical Scientific News Writing category.
  • Achievement Award/Bronze for “Graphics and Editorial Standards: 20 Points to Remember Flyer,” produced by Leslie Holland and submitted in the Brochures//Flyers/Booklets, Two/Three Colors category.
  • Achievement Award/Bronze for “The City of Lean: Latest Underground Drug Trend Traced to Houston,” written by Karen Krakower for HealthLeader and submitted in the Medical Scientific Feature Writing category.
  • Special Award/Pewter for Distinctions, edited by Ina Fried and designed by Julie Rushing, Printing Services. It was submitted in the category for Periodicals Newsletters/Tabloids/Newspapers larger than 8.5 x 11 inches.

CASE District IV includes institutions of secondary and higher education in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
