Willerson, M.D., in recognition of Beasley's retirement after 17 years as dean of the UT School of Public Health at Houston. Beasley, who became a medical pioneer for his groundbreaking work on hepatitis B virus and liver cancer, was honored at a symposium and reception at the School of Public Health in December. After a sabbatical, he will continue his research and consulting work on public health programs, particularly in infectious diseases.
