Connecting Love and Better Health

Love plays a major role in keeping people healthy, says Jeff Levin, Ph.D., an epidemiologist and pioneering scientist in the field of religion, spirituality and health. Levin, left, author of God, Faith, and Health: Exploring the Spirituality-Healing Connection, visits Sept. 9 with Blair Justice, Ph.D., professor emeritus of psychology at The University of Texas School of Public Health at Houston. Levin presented the second annual Blair Justice Lecture in Mind-Body Medicine and Public Health. Based on his research, Levin said that people who express and receive love from either people or a higher power reported less depression, higher self esteem, greater life satisfaction and better health.
