Helping Others Grow

Richard (Dick) P. Schissler Jr. and his wife, Nancy Schissler, said, "We wanted to help others grow" through fellowships at The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston (GSBS). Their family's charitable foundation recently committed a second $100,000 pledge to support GSBS students who are working in cancer research at the UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. This gift will run concurrently with a previous $100,000 pledge that provides two yearly fellowships to GSBS students whose research studies are in the genetics of common human disease. Over the last 10 years, the Schissler Foundation has contributed to students whose focus included heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, asthma and vision.
