Four faculty members from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston are among speakers at a Feb. 21-22 UT System-wide conference on translating discoveries in molecular medicine into health care.

The conference and a gala dinner will take place at the Houston Hilton-Americas. The dinner will celebrate the achievement of more than $1 billion of research funding in health institutions of the UT System. Andrew von Eschenbach, M.D., director of the National Cancer Institute, will be the featured dinner speaker.

Leading investigators from UT System institutions and private industry will focus on groundbreaking research in genetics, genomics/proteomics, molecular imaging and molecular therapeutics for treatment and prevention of human disease.

Speakers from the health science center are: Craig Hanis, Ph.D., professor, Human Genetics Center, UT School of Public Health at Houston; Dianna M. Milewicz, M.D., Ph.D., holder of the President George H. W. Bush Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine at the UT Medical School at Houston; Frank Arnett, M.D., holder of the Elizabeth Bidgood Chair in Rheumatology at the Medical School; and Edward T. H. Yeh, M.D., director of the Research Center for Cardiovascular Diseases at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases.
