First Registrar Leaves a Legacy of Service

Linda S. Brannon, right, associate vice president for academic affairs, presents Lois Monroe with a gift at a June 17 reception in Monroe’s honor. The first universitywide registrar at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Monroe retired July 5 after 35 years of service to the university. She is a former president of the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

“Lois has made a tremendous difference to our students and has helped our faculty accomplish their goals,” said L. Maxmilian Buja, M.D., executive vice president for Academic Affairs.

In the first three Student Perception Surveys, students consistently rated the Registrar’s Office as the No. 1 student service in terms of satisfaction.

Robert Jenkins, associate registrar, was named registrar Sept. 1 after an extensive search. Jenkins holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Houston Baptist University and has 16 years of experience at the health science center. The search committee unanimously recommended him as the best candidate for the position.
