Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Hosts
State Scientific Meeting

 

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston will host the Texas Branch of the American Society for Microbiology annual fall meeting Nov. 4-6 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 6701 South Main.

The program will include sessions on postgenomic approaches to microbiology, DNA and RNA metabolism, vaccines, host-microbe interactions, membrane transport systems, emerging infections, and educational resources. Talks and poster presentations by faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students also are scheduled.

Keynote speaker is Ned Ruby, Ph.D., professor of medical microbiology and immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School. He will discuss his characterization of the symbiotic interactions between Vibrio fisheri and the squid Euprymna scolopes.
