10th Annual Research Day Features Diverse Work

 

Ten University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston faculty members within the first five years of their appointment have been selected to give platform presentations at the 10th Annual Research Day.

Research Day will take place 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, at the Edwin Hornberger Conference Center, 2151 W. Holcombe Blvd. Students, faculty, staff, residents and fellows are invited to attend.

After the morning platform presentations, 20 new faculty members and more than 140 student participants will present posters in the afternoon. Research Day also will highlight poster presentations by winners of the Houston area High School Science and Engineering Fair.

After a 9 a.m. introduction by Peter Davies, M.D., Ph.D., executive vice president for research, the following faculty members will each give a 15-minute platform presentation:

Chunlin Qin, D.D.S., Ph.D., assistant professor, Endodontics, UT Dental Branch at Houston. Yuh-Fong Hong, Ph.D., assistant professor, Nursing Systems and Technology, UT School of Nursing at Houston.

Willy Wriggers, Ph.D., assistant professor, UT School of Health Information Sciences at Houston (SHIS) and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS).

Elmer Bernstam, M.D., assistant professor, SHIS and UT Medical School at Houston (MS).

Kent Christopherson, Ph.D., assistant professor, Center for Immunology, Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases (IMM) and GSBS.

Martin Young, D.Phil., assistant professor, Center for Cell Signaling, IMM and GSBS.

Danielle Garsin, Ph.D., assistant professor, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, MS and GSBS.

Valentin Dragoi, Ph.D., assistant professor, Neurobiology and Anatomy, MS and GSBS.

Andrei Rodin, Ph.D., assistant professor, Epidemiology and Human and Molecular Genetics, UT School of Public Health at Houston (SPH) and GSBS.

Kristy Lillibridge, D.V.M., assistant professor, Epidemiology, SPH.
