Nominees Sought by May 14
for President’s Scholar Awards
Nominations are being sought for two President’s Scholar Awards to be presented to outstanding fulltime faculty members Oct. 6 at the Faculty Honors Convocation. The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston awards will be presented simultaneously to recognize achievement in research and in teaching.
“These faculty honors are meaningful not only because they recognize outstanding scholarly accomplishment, but also because they are awarded to deserving individuals who are nominated by their peers,” said L. Maximilian Buja, M.D., executive vice president for academic affairs, and Peter J. A. Davies, M.D., Ph.D., executive vice president for research, in a memo to faculty members.
Each award will be presented along with a $5,000 cash prize during the Faculty Honors Convocation, and each honoree will be asked to give brief remarks during the program.
Nominations may be submitted by any individual affiliated with the health science center. The Awards Committee will review the nominations and recommend two honorees to President James T. Willerson, M.D.
All documentation should be submitted electronically to Susan Fernandez, Office of the Executive Vice President for Research, at Susan.Fernandez@uth.tmc.edu by May 14.
