National Speaker on Mental Health

Thomas Insel, M.D., left, director of the National Institute of Mental Health, was welcomed to The University of Texas Medical School at Houston by Robert Guynn, M.D., chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and executive director of the UT Harris County Psychiatric Center. Insel spoke on social neuroscience, the theory that human behavior is the result of a combination of biology and social influences. The lecture was the 12th annual Harold Cooper Lecture, which was established to provide the UT community access to worldrenowned experts in the field of neuropsychiatry.
