Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael McKinney, M.D., visits with guests from H.E.B., Nancy Beck, left, community relations manager, and Holly Montalbano, director of public affairs, Sept. 22 at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston's first corporate appreciation breakfast. Speaking to about 50 corporate representatives, McKinney noted that the health science center has a $1.7 billion annual indirect economic impact on the Houston metropolitan region. He expressed appreciation to the corporations that have supported the health science center as vendors, donors or clients. The health science center's Corporate Relations Council hosted the event, emceed by Jerre Iversen, vice president for development, at the Junior League of Houston. Each guest received a silver star with the health science center logo as a thank-you gift.
