As Vice President, Susan Coulter is responsible for guiding the synergistic efforts of the development and communications operations to successfully support the comprehensive, campus-wide advancement effort.

Since 1998, Coulter was vice president for university advancement at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB). There she directed communications, public affairs, alumni relations, development and special events for UTMB.

Before her UTMB position, Coulter served as vice president for university advancement at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, where the school saw a 30 percent increase in private contributions and initiated special project campaigns in 10 university colleges and units.

From 1990-95, Coulter was associate vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the Creative Partnerships Campaign for the University of Houston. This six-year campaign raised more than $277 million, $12 million over its goal, and was the largest campaign to date in the Houston area.

Coulter began her career in 1983 with the Indiana University Foundation, where she served in several capacities for the Campaign for Indiana, which raised $311 million.

She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and a law degree from Indiana University.

Linda C. Brown is the administrative services officer for the Office of Institutional Advancement and has been with the university for 17 years. She is responsible for all personnel, budgeting and finances for the department. She meets frequently with the vice president, to discuss and prepare reports. She also serves as an internal and external liaison for the department to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of information.

Sheila Amiot serves as Executive Assistant in the Office of Institutional Advancement. She uses management experience gained during many years in business administration to coordinate executives’ schedules and to meet the exacting demands of their positions. Sheila has been a valued part of the office for 8 years and her variety of expertise is called upon by all areas of the department.

Paula Landy is the Executive Assistant to Michelle Morris. Among her duties, which includes providing administrative support to this position, Paula handles meeting schedules, travel itineraries and ensures smooth communication and coordination with internal and external needs for her area. She brings years of experience as an office administrator in the non-profit field through her work with United Way and The Children’s Museum of Houston.

Sandra Marroquin has worked for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for 16 years. She is responsible for monitoring all expenses for the Office of Institutional Advancement. She maintains accurate records for inventory, time management and the proper use of the UT BuyCard expenses.

Janis McElligott provides support to all aspects of the Office of Institutional Advancement. Janis is a fairly new "transplant" to Texas, and is originally from New York. Her attention to detail has been utilized in the demanding customer service and construction management industries.

Margaret transferred to the Office of Institutional Advancement from the Medical School. Margaret has been with the university since 1990 where she worked in Capital Assets. Since then she has worked in the Office of Facilities Planning and Development and most recently in Family Medicine. Margaret assists in the administrative area, the development services area and also performs Spanish translations for Health Leader articles.
