Sculpture By Waldine Tauch.

We are receptive to gifts of artwork and collectibles that advance The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston's mission and beautify the campus. Over the years, paintings, sculpture, crafts, and historic books and papers have all have been given to the Health Science Center, and all of them have enriched the University.

If you are considering such a gift, the office of Gift and Estate Planning will be able to guide you in determining if the pieces advance the UT Health Science Center's mission -- a requirement of the IRS to qualify your gift for a charitable deduction -- and in securing an independent appraisal to establish the amount of your deduction.

Note that most all gifts of artwork and collectibles are made to the UT Health Science Center outright. In rare cases, it may be possible for the donor to arrange for life income to be paid to him or her in return for the gift. However, significant tax considerations make it advisable for you to consult your advisors and our office first before proceeding with such a plan.
