Study Description:

This is a study to find out if Ondansetron (medication for nausea) can prevent nausea and vomiting following abdominal surgery.  Subjects will be given the study drug or placebo (substance that does not contain any active medicine) prior to surgery. Their level of nausea and vomiting (if any) will then be recorded up to 48 hours after surgery. Subjects will then be asked to return to the clinic 6 days after surgery for a follow-up visit.

Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

18-75 years old Scheduled to receive abdominal surgery requiring overnight stay No history of drug abuse No anti-emetics (nausea medicine) for the past 30 days No nausea and vomiting in the last seven days
