UT Physicians expands with new state-of-the-art cardiology clinic outside of the Texas Medical Center
HOUSTON – (March 20, 2009) – To make access to comprehensive cardiology care easier, the heart and vascular specialists with UT Physicians are opening a new clinic in Bellaire.
The UT Cardiovascular Imaging and Arrhythmia Diagnostic Center officially opens on April 1. The center, which is staffed by faculty at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, offers a complete range of advanced cardiovascular medicine services including: cardiology consultations, carotid artery screening, echocardiograms, EKGs, pacemaker and implantable defibrillator management, nuclear stress tests and stress echocardiography.
“Some of our patients who live outside the 610 Loop will no longer have to travel into the Texas Medical Center for their cardiology needs. This new clinic will help our patients to the west, south and east. They won’t have to fight traffic and the parking is free,” said David McPherson, M.D., professor and James T. and Nancy B. Willerson Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the UT Medical School at Houston. “We are trying to respond to the population shift. More people are moving to the suburbs and we will continue to expand to meet that need. This is the first step.”
Seven UT physicians will staff the new clinic: McPherson, J. Jason West, M.D., Stephano Sdringola, M.D., Catalin Loghin, M.D., Sheila Coogan, M.D., Carmen Landrau, M.D. and P. (Pansy) Tung, M.D.
The new center is located at 6700 West Loop South, Suite 540. For more information or an appointment, call 713-486-5175 or visit www.UTphysicians.com.
The clinic is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The board-certified cardiologists from the UT Medical School also see patients at the UT Professional Building, 6410 Fannin St., Suite 600 and Memorial Hermann Southeast, 11920 Astoria Blvd., Suite 230.
