UT School of Nursing at Houston names new
associate dean for management
HOUSTON – (March 5, 2009) – Susan Perez, M.B.A., has been named associate dean for management at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing.

Perez will be responsible for administering and coordinating operational and financial affairs of the school. Management oversight includes finances, human resources, equipment and inventory, information systems and space needs.
“I am looking forward to working with the UT School of Nursing to increase the number of Texas nursing graduates and develop the next generation of nurse leaders at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston,” Perez said.
Perez comes to UT School of Nursing at Houston from The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston. There, she served as administrator for the UTMB Department of Microbiology and Immunology, which focused on research initiatives in infectious diseases, development of vaccines and biodefense. Prior to UTMB, Perez served as program director for Vivra Health Advantage managing clinics for diabetes and wound care; and assistant vice president for The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in support of initiatives in strategic planning, outreach clinics, budget and multidisciplinary programs.
“Ms. Perez comes to us from UTMB with extensive background at several institutions,” said Patricia Starck, dean of the School of Nursing. “She is extremely well-qualified and has good experience. We look forward to having her share her leadership skills with the School of Nursing.”
Perez will begin her new position March 9.
